Collaborations and group exhibitions across borders between Ghana and various African countries have become increasingly common. However, this marks the first time an exhibition of this nature is taking place in Ghana with all participants hailing from Nigeria and without any Ghanaian participants.

Nine members of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) are taking a bold leap into new territories with their recent works of painting and sculpture, showcased at the Nubuke Foundation. This initiative is warmly welcomed and supported by the Nubuke Foundation, as it paves the way for new dialogues to emerge in the contemporary art scene in Ghana.

The participating artists—Tayo Olayode, Aimufia Osagie, Adekusibe Odunfaa, Bimbo Adenugba, Okpu Norbert, Olumide Onadipe, Damola Adepoju, Umeh Bede, and Kehinde Oso—have been described by Abiodun Olaku, a respected and internationally renowned artist and fellow member of the SNA, as “culture missionaries.” Olaku commended their ability to successfully confront the challenges faced by emerging artists, and with growing confidence, export their remarkable talents, diverse perspectives, and insightful views on art and humanity to a foreign destination.

Both the Nubuke Foundation and the participating artists hope that Beyond Boundaries will serve as a platform for further artistic exchanges and future collaborations among artists and other key players in the art world across the continent.
