Through an eclectic mix of sea blues, deep verdant landscapes, and charcoal drawings, Appah’s compositions illustrate his family’s shared experience of home.

Nubuke Foundation is proud to present Gideon Appah as our 2017 Young Ghanaian Artist (YGA) with a debut solo exhibition: In Pokua’s Place. Join us for opening drinks in celebration of this exhibition with a live performance from the artist.

Selected by Nubuke Foundation’s newly appointed curator, Bianca Ama Manu, Appah will be presenting a body of textured and vivid mixed media artworks that pay homage to his grandmother. The exhibition is nostalgically in memory of her, with the works serving as a reminder of her place, space, and legacy in his family.

Through an eclectic mix of sea blues, deep verdant landscapes, and charcoal drawings, Appah’s compositions illustrate his family’s shared experience of home. The artist has collected not just ideas, but pieces of historical residential relics to assemble a memory of his grandmother.
